Duke City Shootout film competition is open: Are you ready New Mexico
The Duke City Shootout is the world's first script-to-screen competition. Short film screenplays of 12 pages are now being be considered for production during the week of the Shootout, July 24-31, 2010
It started in 1999, and become real over drinks in a bar that November when Jim Graebner, Anthony DellaFlora, Dennis Gromelski, Bryan Konefsky and Kestutis Nakas decide to create the film production festival/competition which became Flicks on 66 Wild West Digital Shootout.
Fall of 2003, the Digital Filmmaking Institute changes the name of the festival to DigiFest SouthWest. That name didn’t last very long, and in 2005 it was renamed Duke City Shootout. Today The Digital Filmmaking Institute, Inc. is a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit educational organization based in Albuquerque, New Mexico that oversees the Duke City Shootout. DFI has produced more than 60 movies during the nine annual competitions. Many of the movies have played at other festivals around the world. Each year just prior to the festival, DFI sponsors a "digital bootcamp" where novices and pros alike are offered a week's worth of classes in a variety of movie-related disciplines. More than a thousand students have attended the bootcamps since 2000.
Each director is given a cast, crew, editor and a week to make a short film, which is exhibited at a Saturday night gala.And, now – it’s time to submit your scripts.
