New Mexico's Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail No state loves its chile more than New Mexico, and the state is also quite passionate about cheeseburgers, too. So it's natural that the two
have been paired into our famous green chile cheeseburger. And it has been so since the middle of the last century. But only recently has the state made it
official with the Green Chile Cheeseburger Trail.
The fiery burger’s early esteem was fueled by decades-old burger hotspots like The Owl Café and Buckhorn Tavern in San Antonio, Burt’s Burger Bowl in Santa Fe,
Bobcat Bite just outside of Santa Fe, and Blake’s Lotaburger’s original Albuquerque location. Moreover, these places have been lauded by the media.

But to make it easy for visitors and locals who want to find their fix on the road, the state created a map, selecting some 4 dozen of the state’s outstanding green chile cheeseburger restaurants, cafes, drive-ins, and joints. Download the green-chile-cheeseburger map © 2010
