A Guide to Dog-Friendly Albuquerque

Albuquerque is a dog-friendly place. New Mexicans all seem to have dogs and love to take them with them. So there's plenty of great dog-places for visitors to enjoy with their pooches.
Restaurants, hotels, outdoor spaces, you and your pet will have a great time in the city

Restaurants

Laws don't permit dogs and humans to eat together inside, but given our great weather, there are lots of outside dining places.

In popular Nob Hill, take your dog with you when you enjoy outdoor dining at Kelly’s. Local favorite Flying Star also offers dog-friendly patio dining on what they like to call their petios (dog-friendly patios). Not all locations have petios, so check the website first to find which ones can welcome Fido.

Gecko's Bar & Tapas also welcomes dogs at both their Nob Hill and their Academy Road locations.

Outdoor Activities

Tingley Beach features three fishing lakes, a model boating pond and a train station with gift shop and food service. During the summer only, Tingley visitors can rent pedal boats and bicycles. Tingley Beach is open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year and is free to the general public on a first come, first served basis. There is no fee to access Tingley Beach.

Elena Gallegos is beautiful and has hiking trails for everyone, especially popular with people and their dogs. Just remember to keep pets on a leash.

Dogs are welcome in Petrogylph National Monument except at Boca Negra Canyon. Petroglyph National Monument offers many scenic spots and open spaces for you and your dog to enjoy together. Whether you share a run along the volcanoes or a quiet walk in Rinconada Canyon, always be aware of your surroundings and considerate of others.

Boca Negra Canyon is the most heavily visited area within the monument. Its short, partly paved trails are easy for seniors, for the physically challenged, and for young children to walk on. It becomes very crowded on the narrow trails and because of the congestion dogs are not allowed. Dogs are not allowed inside public buildings such as the visitor center, offices, and public restrooms.

There are also dog parks through the city where you can meet other dog owners.

Hotels

Since all the major lodgings are represented in Albuquerque, there's no problem finding a place that will welcome your pet. Check out the websites of BringFido.com and PetVacations.com

If you're thinking of visiting Duke City -- both you and your dog will be welcomed.
