Vietnamese in the Land of the Chile Pepper - Cafe Trang

One of the great surprises of Albuquerque is the excellent Vietnamese cuisine, and Cafe Trang is one of the best in the city.
Located in the building that once housed the Talin market, the space has been remodeled, but it is still large and spacious. The ingredients are market fresh and the dishes well-prepared. The menu is in Vietnamese and English and has all the dishes you hope to find. Their Pho (beef noodle soup) is light and flavorful beef broth over rice noodles topped with your favorite kind of beef. It comes with a plate of bean sprouts, basil, cilantro, sliced jalapenos and lime. They also offer Pho Ga which is their chicken noodle.

I'm in love with the BBQ pork. The Banh Hoi - steamed vermicelli platter comes with tiny pancakes of mini vermicelli noodles, lettuce, bean spourts, chopped peanuts, and a side of fish sauce (which isn't fishy, but rather a clear light dipping sauce with a gentle bite). It was excellent but the tiny pancakes kept absorbing all my sauce. I'll try the Bun - rice vermicelli bowl next time. Or one of the other intriguing items from the menu.
